FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS

OOOOOWWWW!  Is that another fish hook in my mouth or what???!!!   Would you please stop that!!!!   Once in a while it is okay to throw out some bait and try pull a compliment out from someone but be careful you might hook your own toe and accidentally draw your own foot into your mouth.

I wanted to give you the definition of the term "fishing for compliments" from the urban dictionary but it is a little crude and I am working on a G-rated blog here- so if you are curious.....

Wouldn't it just be better to ask for a hug, say that you need a little reassurance or that you honestly don't know what you look like from behind in that tight red dress?  People don't like to be played and that they aren't here prop you up, pat your back and make you feel good for the next minute and a half-- until that compliment wears out and you need another!  And then another! And then another!   Gee!  Doesn't that sound tiresome?

MOSTLY WHAT I NEED FROM YOU

A MOST VALUABLE GIFT:  HONESTY

You know how sometimes when you say something it goes the wrong way and other times you say something it isn't enough?  You go back later and labor over what you said or should have said.  Kicking and flailing at yourself mentally?

I have an idea, why don't you just try honesty mixed with kindness all the time regardless of who you are talking to or even what you are talking about?   That way you can be true to yourself and your values.   People will trust that your yes is yes and your no is no!  What a concept!

How good is that?  Real good!

PROCRASTINATION DELAYS DESTINATION

HAPPY:
Fighting procrastination!  That is a good challenge for me today.    I don't like putting off things all the time and then when I wait and wait, then it seems to late to even try.

When I make myself do something it works!  I think that is called self-discipline!  YIKES!  You mean you can control your own stuff!?

AMAZING!  Mom  was right AGAIN!

JOKE OF THE DAY:

So Easy Sometimes

A drug dealer, attempting to sell some drugs, sent these text messages to a potential buyer: "Roxy twenties fifteen" and "Hey buddy just wonderin if you needed any fortys." Those terms are street slang for oxycodone and other prescription drugs.
The recipient was definitely interested. She was a deputy prosecutor. They arrested the guy. He was charged with dealing in a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.
QUOTES:

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

GOOD IDEAS:

Ways to save money from:

6. Master the thirty day rule. Whenever you’re considering making an unnecessary purchase, wait thirty days and then ask yourself if you still want that item. Quite often, you’ll find that the urge to buy has passed and you’ll have saved yourself some money by simply waiting. If you want, you can even keep a “thirty day list” where you write down the item and the day you’ll reconsider it, but I prefer just to keep this one in my head – that way, I often just forget about the unimportant things.
GOOD NEWS:

What's in your (sin-debt) wallet?

WHAT!!???!!??  You don't think Jesus is cool?  You really have to get to know him better!

HAPPY SATURDAY - YOU CAN BE WRONG AND HAPPY!

I hope you are doing something good for yourself and others today.  Try something NEW-  it is good for your mind and your spirit!  Stretch yourself and find a new source of joy.

Maybe you can jump out of a perfectly good airplane (with a parachute of course) or trek up a mountain in Nepal.   Or something a little less daring like thinking you COULD paint, draw, write a story, say you are sorry, or whatever and actually try it!

If you only stick with things you are good at- how do you know  what things you could even be better at or even enjoy more!!!

WHAT'S COOKING GOOD LOOKING?

HAPPY:  What's cooking good looking?

Don't some of those old sayings just make you smile when you think of them?   Like see ya' later alligator!  I just think how someone came up with something so cute and the rest of us are using it.

Have you heard the latest term for your significant other?  It's called LOVE DUCK- why don't you pass that one around and let's see how far that one goes!

One example of a love duck, at least to another mallard!  How's your loveduck?  Let them know that you are quackers about them!
JOKE OF THE DAY:

Driving Drunk

"But officer, I was just riding my lawn mower."
Well, yes, he was just driving his lawn mower. But it was 1:00 in the morning in Iowa and he was driving on the highway, all over the road, with no headlights. His blood alcohol level was .19 which is well above the limit of .08. In Iowa it is illegal to drive any kind of motorized vehicle anywhere while you are drunk.

Just Doing Their Job

The police were just doing their job. When someone called 911, then hung up, the police went to that location to see if there was a problem. It turns out that it was a motel where two drug dealers were staying in different rooms. One tried to call the other one in room 119, but dialed 911 by mistake.

MAKING DECISIONS

"Life is the sum of all your choices." - Albert Camus (1913 - 1960), French Author

"Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide." - Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 - 1821), Military and Political Leader of France

GOOD IDEAS:
Make your own gifts instead of buying stuff from the store.
You can make food mixes, candles, bread, cookies, soap, and all kinds of other things at home quite easily and inexpensively. These make spectacular gifts for others because they involve your homemade touch, plus quite often they’re consumable, meaning they don’t wind up filling someone’s closet with junk. Even better – include a personal handwritten note with the gift. This will make it even more special than anything you could possibly buy down at the mall, plus it saves you money.

HAPPY:  Electronic Playdough

Teaching someone a new trick that you just learned!  Today I taught someone else how to use blogging!   It was really fun to share my little bit with someone else.

My friend had shown me how to do it a few weeks ago and I am just trying to make it better and I keep messing with the fonts and the margins and the pictures!  It is very much like electronic playdough and I just slap it around and pound it all down and start over if I want.

It is good to learn to "play" as an adult!

JOKE OF THE DAY:

Rene Descartes sits down for a meal at a Parisian restaurant.

The waiter asks for his order and he orders a hamburger.

The waiter asks, "Would you like fries with that?"

Descartes says, "I think not," and instantly disappears.

GOOD IDEAS:

Playing Is

Play is basic to all of us

We play to develop our muscles and our brains. We play to be creative. We play to escape, in unplanned moments or structured games. We play to test our limits. Play can be cheery or furious, frivolous or sincere, simple or complex. When we play, we affirm our values and connect with others. When we are absorbed in play, we lose ourselves. When we look closely at play overtime, we find ourselves.

HAPPY:  Is finding out that something you thought would never happen- HAPPENS!  That is an awesome breakthrough- some call it a suddenly!

Or when someone you love gets a good report from the doctor.  That is happy!  That feels so darn happy that you might call it blessed!

Or when you actually accomplish something that has been on your "to do" list and the list shortens by one little thing.

JOKE OF THE DAY:

Two eggs, a sausage, and a pancake walk into a bar.

The bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve breakfast."

“I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!”

Dr. Seuss

GOOD IDEAS:

Give up expensive habits, like cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. Those habits cause money to flow away from you with nothing in return. Call up your fortitude and work hard to kick the habits and you’ll find that money staying in your pocket instead of burning up and floating away.
GOOD NEWS:

Jesus loves me! See His grace!
On the cross He took my place.
There He suffered and He died,
That I might be glorified.
Chorus
Jesus loves me! God's own Son
Over sin the vict'ry won.
When I die, saved by His grace,
I shall see Him face to face.
Chorus
Jesus loves me! He is near.
He is with His Church so dear.
And the Spirit He has sent
By His Word and Sacrament.
