HAPPY: Definition for today.
I can tell you what happy is today, it is called getting something done that you have been dreading. I have been putting off a bunch of stuff and I just "did it" this morning and WOW does that feel good.
This dread thing has got to go! Besides, a lot of the things I did today will make someone else happy (added bonus!!!)
Isn't there a popular tennis shoe brand that says, ""JUST DO IT?" NIKE, NIKE, NIKE!
Why put off tommorrow what you can do today?

JOKE OF THE DAY:
|
Crime of Opportunity
A 22 year old man in Auburn, Washington, saw a crime of opportunity in front of him and couldn't pass it up. A delivery truck, parked at a rental store was left unattended. In the back was a 50" TV. So the guy gets a shopping cart, loads the TV into it and starts pushing it down the street.
Unfortunately for him, someone saw him do it and called 911. A few blocks from the store at the police station, a cop looks out the window and sees the guy, dressed entirely in camouflage, pushing a grocery cart with a TV in it. When asked what he was doing, he first said that he had bought the TV from a friend, then turned and ran away. The cop caught him and arrested him.
His story changed somewhat after the arrest. He said he was moving the television for his friend, Jim. But he didn't know Jim's last name, his address (how was he going to deliver it?), phone number or how to contact him.
He was booked into the King County Jail.

QUOTES:
Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them. |

GOOD IDEAS:
Procrastination
Everyone procrastinates sometimes, but 20 percent of people chronically avoid difficult tasks and deliberately look for distractions—which, unfortunately, are increasingly available. Procrastination in large part reflects our perennial struggle with self-control as well as our inability to accurately predict how we'll feel tomorrow, or the next day.
Procrastinators may say they perform better under pressure, but more often than not that's their way of justifying putting things off.
The bright side? It's possible to overcome procrastination—with effort.

JOKE OF THE DAY:
Exercise Joke
For those keyboard jockeys (those with jobs that require sitting at a computer all day) who don't want to spend the money for those fancy exercise machines, here is a little secret for building arm and shoulder muscles. Three days a week is best.
Begin by standing (in your cubicle works well) with a five pound potato sack in each hand. Extend your arms straight out to your sides and hold them there as long as you can.
After a few weeks, move up to ten pound potato sacks and then fifty pound potato sacks, and finally get to where you can lift a one hundred pound potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.
Next, start putting a few potatoes in the sacks

Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.

Ceremony of the Pretzel
1. On Ash Wednesday, father or mother may explain the origin of the holy pretzel, so that the children will understand its significance.
2. The pretzel might be served on each plate for each evening meal until Easter.
3. Added to the grace before meals, is the following "pretzel prayer":
PRAYER
We beg you, O Lord, to bless these breads which are to remind us that Lent is a sacred season of penance and prayer. For this very reason, the early Christians started the custom of making these breads in the form of arms crossed in prayer. Thus they kept the holy purpose of Lent alive in their hearts from day to day, and increased in their souls the love of Christ, even unto death, if necessary.
Grant us, we pray, that we too, may be reminded by the daily sight of these pretzels to observe the holy season of Lent with true devotion and great spiritual fruit. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
--With ecclesiastical approbation.

24 February 2012: Life After Death
Happy Friday: I am definitely looking forward to this weekend. I have had more job security than I want for the past few weeks! YIKES! Two steps forward and one step back.

Good joke:
Good Exercise: Say good morning to the sun with the sun salutation.
Surya Namaskar, the Sun Salutation, is a series of 12 postures performed in a single, graceful flow. Each movement is coordinated with the breath. Inhale as you extend or stretch, and exhale as you fold or contract. The Sun Salutation builds strength and increases flexibility. Different styles of yoga perform the Sun Saluation with their own variations. However, the flow presented below covers core steps used in most styles.
For the series below, a single round consists of two complete sequences: one for the right side of the body and the other for the left.
On days when you think you have no time for yoga, try and do at least one or two rounds of the Sun Salutation. You'll feel the difference.

Good joke:
Life After Death
A boss asked one of his employees, "Do you believe in life after death?"
"Yes, sir," replied the new employee.
"I thought you would," said the boss. "Yesterday after you left to go to your grandmother's funeral, she stopped in to see you!"

Good Quote: “I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.” ― Marilyn Monroe

22 Feb 2012 Happy Wednesday
22 Feb 2012: Happy Ash Wednesday: Hope you had a great long weekend! I sure did. No matter how many days- they are always too short.
Remember! Be blessed and be a blessing! Over and over again!

GOOD ADVICE:
No matter how you define success, it always requires one thing: self-discipline. But as popular speaker and strategist Rory Vaden explains, we live in an “escalator world”—one that’s filled with shortcuts, quick fixes, and distractions that make it all too easy to slide into procrastination, compromise, and mediocrity. What seems like an easier path is really much harder in the end—and, most important, it won’t take you where you want to go.

GOOD NEWS: Today is the first day of Lent. Are you planning on giving up something for the next 40 days? Maybe just a new focus? Good time to do so with so many others working on the same thing all around the world!

GOOD JOKE: Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson were going camping. They pitched their tent under the stars and went to sleep.
Sometime in the middle of the night Holmes woke Watson up and said: “Watson, look up at the stars, and tell me what you see.”
Watson replied: “I see millions and millions of stars.”
Holmes said: “and what do you deduce from that?”
Watson replied: “Well, if there are millions of stars, and if even a few of those have planets, it’s quite likely there are some planets like earth out there. And if there are a few planets like earth out there, there might also be life.”
And Holmes said: “Watson, you idiot, it means that somebody stole our tent.”
